LED White Lighting (Halogen Replacement)

Save energy, save money with technology

White LEDs lighting a modern kitchen

The long-awaited LED lighting revolution has well and truly arrived, with products to offer a real, energy-efficient replacement for halogen lights. Crisp, clean, energy-efficient light from fittings bright enough to be the main light source but smaller than standard downlighters.

All our fittings are available in warm white, pure white and colour-programmable, so that you can mix and match white and coloured light to give maximum impact to your designs without having a mix of different fittings on the ceilings.

All of the lights offered on this page meet the energy efficiency requirements of Part L of the building regulations, ie offer greater than 40 Lumens per watt of electricity consumed. Most LED bulbs on the market DO NOT meet this requirement. For more information on the regulations, the Carbon Trust has produced a guide to the latest regulations which is viewable here:

Cromatix Ultra-Efficient Solid-State Lights (U-ESSL)

UESSL 50mm9W fitting

Two top quality fittings offering very crisp, high efficiency, white light. With an expected life of 10 years plus (assuming daily use), this fitting represents an incredible move forward in lighting technology which is now available to professional specifiers and end users alike.

Through the use of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly LED lighting, the U-ESSL and associated products render traditional incandescent lighting obsolete. The LED arrays feature the lowest thermal transfer available, thus giving the user maximum output, maximum life and low running costs.

Each light comes with a carbon offset statement and a class-leading three year warranty. The U-ESSL is available in warm white, pure white and for mood-lighting applications, RGB. The 9W version is available in warm and pure white.

The 4.2W unit has a 50mm face diameter so can be used in any standard MR16 downlight, or alternatively mounted directly in the floor. The larger 9W unit has clips for direct mounting in the ceiling, and has the benefit of being adjustable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - U-ESSL Range

Question Answer
What voltage do the drivers run at?
220 - 240vac, 50Hz
What is the recommended spacing?
For an average domestic installation, a spacing between 1 per metre and 1 per 2 metres will be sufficient
I've seen LED bulbs at my local DIY store for around £10. Why is the U-ESSL so much more expensive?
The retrofit GU10 LED bulbs that you can buy on the high street are generally 1 - 1.8W bulbs based on discrete LEDs in a plastic housing. These lights will only deliver a tiny amount of light and cannot be used to provide main illumination.
Can I dim the LEDs?
The LEDs can be dimmed by connecting a potentiometer or 0-10v signal to the MicroDriver16 driver, or by using an LED dimmer panel (see our home page). The LEDs CANNOT be connected to a standard dimmer switch.
Are these the same as the LED bulbs that I see online?
No. The vast majority of LED bulbs are Chinese imports of varying quality. Many claim incredible performance but few actually deliver.
Do you offer an MR16 replacement?
Yes, the 4.2W version will fit most MR16 housings.
